Email Your Candidate Questions to Us

The League of Women Voters of Clallam County (LWVCLA), in partnership with the North Olympic Library System (NOLS), encourages all Clallam County citizens to submit questions for upcoming candidate forums. Candidate forums in advance of elections will take place via Zoom, allowing people from across the county a chance to see and hear the candidates.

Concise, unbiased questions directly related to the position, its policies, and the leadership skills required will be given priority, and similar questions will be combined. LWVCLA strives to ensure that questions reflect a wide range of concerns from the county, and questions are never released to any candidates in advance of the forums. Please submit your questions via email to info@lwvcla.org at least three days prior to each forum.

The guiding principles of the League forums are to be fair and equitable to all eligible candidates and both sides of ballot issues, to give voters direct access to eligible candidates and representatives of ballot issues and to provide information so that voters can make informed decisions.

We Always Need Help with Candidate Forums!

Voter Services is always in need of members who want to help administer our Clallam County forums. There are big and small ways to help, and guidance and training will be provided for members who haven’t participated in the past.

Below are just some of the roles that need to be filled. If you are interested in helping out, please contact info@lwvcla.org.

• Write forum moderator script (from a template).
• Write forum agenda (from a template). 
• Write biographies of candidates to be included in the moderator’s script. 
• Contact candidates to schedule the forums.
• Create press releases for the forums.
• Gather and compile questions from the community.
• Publicity: newspapers, radio stations, social media postings, flyers, emailing community organizations, etc.)
• Publicize the event via networking/emailing with community organizations.
• Contact and manage the venue Usually the Port Angeles Library). 
• Contact and coordinate with co-sponsors (North Olympic Library System (NOLS) and LWV of Jefferson County.
• Coordinate volunteers.
• Be a moderator.
• Be a timer.
• Record the forums.
• Upload the forums to YouTube and LWVCLA website.
• Publicize Vote411.org, which is a great tool.
