Support the Education Fund with a Tax-Deductible Gift

There are ways to donate to LWVCLA that have tax benefits. The League of Women Voters of Washington State maintains a qualified charitable 501c(3) Education Fund that accepts tax-deductible donations on the Clallam league's behalf and provides the administrative and legal structure for the Clallam league to have an ED fund.  LWVCLA may then apply to make use of the funds in a way that is strictly educational, supporting activities such as our election forums, non-partisan voter registration work, and civics education.

Your gift will support local nonpartisan educational projects that help citizens to better understand major public policy issues and to become more active and informed participants in their communities.

Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA

Give tax-free gifts from your IRA that benefit our mission and you. A QCD is a tax-efficient way for individuals who are age 70 ½ or older to make gifts directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA). QCDs can count towards satisfying an individual’s Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year, which is the minimum amount that an individual must withdraw from their IRA each year once they reach age 73.

Benefits

  • Reduces taxable income
  • Counts towards your Required Minimum Distribution for the year
  • Makes an immediate impact on our mission

How it Works

  • Instruct your IRA custodian to distribute funds directly to the League of Women Voters Education Fund.
  • Enjoy the benefit of a tax-free distribution from your IRA, contributing towards your required minimum distribution for the year.
  • Potentially reduce tax liability by excluding the distribution amount from taxable income.
  • Note: You will not receive a charitable income tax deduction for a Qualified Charitable Distribution.

If you wish to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, contact your IRA custodian. You will need to provide your IRA administrator with the following details in order to initiate the charitable rollover donation:

Legal Name: LWV of Washington Education Fund

Mailing address:

The LWVCLA Treasurer will forward you the IRS-required document for your tax deduction.

Leave a Legacy

Although the landscape of government has often changed in unexpected ways, since 1920, the League of Women Voters has pursued education to protect democracy and the right to vote through informed and active participation in government and increased understanding of major public policy issues.

A gift through your estate can help ensure that the LWVCLA will be there — proud, principled, unflinching, and effective.

When you name the LWVCLA Education Fund to receive a gift through your estate, you play a personal role in protecting democracy’s future.

You can make a legacy gift in a variety of ways, including an outright bequest or by designating LWVCLA Education Fund as a beneficiary to your retirement assets or life insurance policy.

Consult with your legal and financial advisors to learn how a gift would work in your circumstances. Laws and regulations governing all gifts and availability of certain life income gifts vary. The tax ID# of the League of Women Voters of Clallam County, WA Education Fund is 91-1849890.
