Peninsula College Internships - applications accepted through June 10

The League of Women Voters of Clallam County seeks qualified candidates for two intern positions in the Fall Quarter 2022.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Topics for this year’s internships: Getting out the Vote, and Climate Change
  • The internships start the week of September 19 and conclude December 9
  • Interns will work closely with LWVCLA members
  • 1-2 credits (student preference)
  • Paid scholarship to cover course tuition up to $350 

Getting Out the Vote

As our intern, you can work on one or several of these projects:

  • Provide support for the LWVCLA election forums
  • Develop a marketing plan to boost LWVCLA’s social media presence
  • Participate in public outreach to get out the vote, including social media
  • Analyze the outcomes of the public outreach
  • Other election related projects depending on your interests
  • Write a reflection about your internship

Climate Change 2

Climate Change          

As our intern, you can work on one or several of these projects: 

  • Provide support for the LWVCLA climate change events
  • Identify student organizations and community groups that may be interested in partnerships with the LWV on environmental information efforts
  • Develop tools and methods for collecting data such as surveys, opinion polls or questionnaires
  • Analyze the outcomes of the public outreach
  • Other climate change related projects depending on your interests
  • Write a reflection about your internship

Internship Benefits

You will gain:

  • Skills in areas of your interest such as social media, journalism, multimedia communication or writing for diverse media
  • Experiences in public educational outreach from hosting events to analyzing the outcomes
  • Knowledge about current local issues and how the local political system works

How to Apply

Criteria:

  • Applicants must be at least 17 years old
  • Applicants must be students in good standing at Peninsula College
  • Getting Out the Vote internship Washington residency preferred


Process:

Clearly label your application “internship” in the subject line and submit a complete application form by  June 10, 2022 to info@lwvcla.org or LWVCLA at PO Box 1092, Carlsborg, WA  98324.  


The completed application form (Internship Application FINAL) includes answers to the questions below and two references of which one is a faculty member (please be sure to let your references know you’ve applied for the LWVCLA internship and they may be contacted). A current resume must also be submitted.

1. What motivates you to apply for the LWV-sponsored intern?

2. Which internship opportunity (Getting out the Vote or Climate Change) are you most interested in and why?

3. What skills do you have that will be particularly useful for this internship?

4. How does this internship fit into your future plans?


The internship committee will review the applications and contact qualified applicants to schedule interviews. Internship decisions will be made and applicants notified by June 15, 2022.
